Navigating a new baby and all their wants and needs can be overwhelming. With a plethora of baby websites and marketing, and baby goods a multi-squillion dollar industry (squillion is obviously a super accurate figure don’t you know) knowing what you need and what you can do without is really very tricky!
I did the usual “google up a storm” looking for lists. I love lists, they make me feel safe and in control. If I can tick things off, I always, always, feel better. I’m a Capricorn through and through. So I looked up the must-have lists, the 10 things you can’t survive without, the ULTIMATE BABY ITEMS THAT WILL SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS guides. The “buy these things or your baby will never sleep, or never speak, or will grow up with a limp” …you get the gist. I went to the baby expo, I brought the baby magazines, I downloaded ALL OF THE APPS. I still have the “Baby” app folder in my iPhone. Don’t get me wrong – it was fun. These things are part and parcel of the excitement of a new baby. What else are you going to do except complain and pee heaps for the next nine months? Duh – SHOP! The problem with these lists is that 99.9% of them were sponsored, or delivered to me by Facebook or Instagram targeting, or the poster/creators were obviously being paid in said products or were “influencers” showcasing the brand, or were made by companies selling the items on the list!
So I’ve decided to create a completely unbiased, unpaid, unsponsored list of my must-have baby items for new Mums**. There will be several, I can’t quite narrow down a “Top 10” to serve you a nice balanced aesthetically pleasing one-pager list (although my OCD will kill me) I’ve proclaimed I’m all about the #realtalk so real it shall be. I will also do a blurb/blog post about each of the products and tell you a little about why I rate them.
**I will always be transparent, and if in the event I ever do get a sponsored product I will always disclose this.
